In the (excuse the expression) wake of the Virgina Tech tragedy, there was a half-hearted effort to get everyone in the US to wear VT colors (Maroon & Orange) on a specific date. As best I can tell, the trial balloon fell flat.
Am I the only curmudgeon that had this immediate reaction: What good would that do? I mean, it took me about two seconds to realize that NOBODY in the Commonwealth of Virginia gave a rat's patootie about what I was wearing, or would have any idea what I was wearing, on the designated solidarity date or any other time. My clothing was not going to make anyone feel any better, and they wouldn't know what some geezer 2,000 miles away was wearing in any event.
This whole idea was so "nice, nice" that I wanted to puke. But that's just me.
