What's Wrong with this Picture

Meandering through the not-so-recent news....

I. Thomas, coach of the New York (NBA) Knicks, was recently found by a jury to have engaged in sexual harassment of a female subordinate employee.

Was he fired by his employer for this transgression? No.

Was he fined by his employer? No.

Did the NBA discipline him in any fashion? No.

I guess that's because he didn't do something really bad, like killing a dog......

What does it say about our society that we are more interested in protecting dogs than we are in protecting female human beings? A society in which you can get in more trouble drowning an animal than you can sexually harassing a co-worker....

Sometimes I feel that I am completely out of touch with current societal mores.

And for that, I am grateful.
